Pavlo Arie is a Ukrainian playwright, conceptual artist, and theater director. He was educated at universities in Ukraine and Germany. He has lived in Lviv, Cologne, and Kyiv. An exhibition of his art and installations was held in Bonn in 2016. He translated Sarah Kane’s Blasted into Ukrainian. He worked with other Ukrainian playwrights at the Royal Court Theater in London in 2011 and was the artistic director of the Lesia Ukrainka Drama Theater in Lviv in 2016. He is the author of more than a dozen plays written in Ukrainian, German, and Russian. His first play was Ten Ways to Commit Suicide, written in 2004. His plays have been published in four collections.
